These eggs are fresh & unwashed from nest to carton. Why don't we wash them? We don't wash them to keep the bloom intact because the bloom helps keep the eggs good for longer. With grocery prices being as they are these days, we are all feeling the strain & nobody wants to waste money on food that will spoil quickly. Just be sure to wash them before you consume them & read the info card in the pictures. It explains about the bloom & how long the eggs should stay good. (Keep in mind that the 3 months for unwashed eggs is a safe estimate on the low side. Some research says they can last anywhere from 3-6 months.) You can also grab one of the cards to take home while you're at the stand.
Our eggs are stored in a fridge until they go to the stand where they are kept in a cooler with ice packs, therefore we advise getting them home & in the fridge as soon as possible.
The ink used to stamp our eggs is food grade, & the ink used to write the date each egg was laid on the bottom of the egg is actually cookie ink. We use those inks to ensure they will not affect the taste of the eggs & are safe for human food.
