Concrete vs Plaster vs MatrixDryve
We typically use concrete, plaster, or MatrixDryve to make our statues & plaques. So, which is right for your use? What are the differences between them?
A. Concrete: Concrete is absolutely incredible for outdoor use because of its durability, but it is incredibly heavy.
B. Plaster: Plaster seems to capture details a bit better than concrete which makes some very detailed & stunning pieces, & it's much lighter than concrete, but it lacks the durability of concrete, which is why we advise keeping plaster indoors.
C. MatrixDryve: As a polymerized plaster, MatrixDryve gives the best of both concrete & plaster. It has durability for outdoor use like concrete picks up the details like plaster, & weighs less than concrete. It's amazing & great for indoor or outdoor use but a bit more pricey than concrete or plaster.
How To Care For Your CM Stars Farms Statuary
🧹 Safe Routine Cleaning
-
Use low pressure: Clean using warm water mixed with a few drops of mild dish soap.
-
Avoid abrasion: Wipe the surface with a soft microfiber cloth or a soft-bristled nylon brush for textured areas.
-
Never use pressure washers: High-pressure water can micro-fracture the sealant, causing it to peel or flake off.
-
Skip harsh chemicals: Do not use bleach, vinegar, or citrus-based cleaners, as acids and strong solvents will chemically degrade the outdoor topcoat.
❄️ Winter Care
-
Elevate: Ensure the statue is raised off bare dirt or grass using concrete pavers or wood blocks so moisture cannot wick upward into the unsealed bottom.
-
Cover or store: Sealant protects against rain and UV, but trapping freezing condensation against the statue can still cause surface blemishes. If leaving them out, cover them with a breathable tarp after a spell of completely dry weather.
